Invisalign braces are clear retainers (known as “aligners”) that help you achieve even, straight teeth. Virtually undetectable, Invisalign aligners are made of strong, clear plastic that gradually and gently guide your teeth into perfect alignment. Unlike metal braces, they have no wires or brackets on which your lips or gums can snag. Fortunately, most patients are candidates for Invisalign.
Perfectly aligned teeth and bite are the hallmarks of a beautiful smile. But not everyone is born with a picture-perfect smile. Fortunately, Invisalign can be used to correct multiple cosmetic issues:
-
Gaps. Gaps make your smile less cosmetically pleasing and can also be harmful to your oral healthy by allowing food to be easily caught in your exposed gums.
-
Open Bite. Open bite occurs when the top and bottom teeth do not overlap enough, so that there is a visible space or in more mild cases, the teeth just barely touch.
-
Overbite. This occurs when upper teeth stick out too far beyond your lower teeth. Invisalign can pull the upper teeth back to align the midline of your teeth and improve your smile.
-
Underbite. This occurs when the lower jaw or teeth stick out beyond the top jaw (the opposite of an overbite). Invisalign can bring back the lower teeth behind the upper teeth to create a normal bite and smile.
-
Crossbite. The most common type of crossbite or “reverse bite” is when one or more upper teeth are behind or inside the lower teeth. Invisalign can bring your upper and lower teeth into proper alignment.
-
Crowding. Overly crowded teeth can be very unattractive and can also be difficult to clean. Invisalign shifts the teeth into alignment.
WHAT TO EXPECT

During your first evaluation at Oakland Park Family Dental, Dr. Rezvani will help you determine if Invisalign is a good option for you. If you are a candidate, we will design a treatment plan and take impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign will use to develop accurate, personalized teeth-straightening devices, called aligners. Aligners slide directly over your teeth and are replaced every two weeks as your teeth shift into place. Depending on your case, you will wear them full-time (20-22 hours per day), except when eating, drinking or brushing, for 12 to 24 months—no longer than you would wear traditional metal braces. You will visit our Oakland Park, Fort Lauderdale dental office about every six weeks for check-ups with Dr. Rezvani.
The cost of Invisalign varies and will be determined during a personalized consultation with Dr. Rezvani. In some instances, insurance may pay for at least some of the cost.
